My Shop Project

When I got home tonight I ran in and looked.

January 11, 2007 -- Bainbridge Island. First thing I did after kissing the wife was rush into the shop and check the paperwork. Yes, the inspector was here and signed off on the final inspection.

Just a short 58 weeks after signing a contract I have a finished building.

Okay, so it doesn't have any electrical yet, but this is beginning to feel done!

Maxwell Garage: This is my story. And I'm sticking to it.

I've lived in the same house since March of 1995. I've been planning to build a garage or shop for years. Well as I've been preparing for this project the city has been preparing another. They recently announced that my address was changing. The reasons aren't important, but they gave those of us who are affected an opportunity to suggest names. My wife and I thought the name of our neighbors, who have lived here more than 50 years, would be perfect. Well they didn't think they wanted their name on the street sign, but thought instead the dad's first name would be good.

I never met the dad, but had known of him for years. His name was Maxwell and honoring him and his family by naming our street after him seemed a good idea to me. And along with that my earliest memories include my uncle's 1917 Maxwell car, which has been in my family since about 1920. Seems like a fun name and appropriate name for our street.

So we now live on Maxwell Lane and I'm naming my shop Maxwell Garage just for fun!
